was formed out of frustration of not being able to find a quality bike light that was designed to be a bike light from the beginning. As an automotive lighting engineer I knew how high performance lights were designed and it was a pain to spend $300 on a bike light that was nothing more than a fancy flashlight.
Armed with my knowledge, and access to optical engineering software I developed a few prototypes, tested them out with friends, and went back to the drawing board.
After a successful run of prototypes, I launched Outbound Lighting on Kickstarter. In 30 days we raised nearly $30,000 that helped to fund the tooling for the project. 6 months later all 150+ backers had the lights in their hands and using them successfully.
I have learned a lot developing the light, and continue to make improvements. I build the lights in small batches specifically so that changes can be quickly implemented. Updated straps, updated programming, improved castings, new packaging, wire length changes, and updated battery pouches are just some of the changes implemented.
I hope you enjoy your Outbound light for years to come, as quality is built into the product, and it is designed to last.
